I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia . I earned a Ph.D. in Counseling from the University of Georgia. I also have a masters degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Georgia State University. My undergraduate degree is in psychology from the University of North Carolina.

I have over 21 years experience providing counseling and psychotherapy. Most of my experience is in private practice; however, I have also worked in community mental health and inpatient settings. I enjoy working with adults and adolescents. I provide individual and marital/couples counseling.

Although I have experience with a wide range of psychological conditions and issues, I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, phobias, trauma survivors (sexual, physical, emotional), domestic violence, and eating disorders. I also have extensive experience treating grief and loss, codependency, infertility issues, women’s issues, stress management, and relationship transition issues, such as divorce recovery. With couples, I specialize in improving communication and conflict resolution skills.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I am also a faculty member in the Human Services Program at Old Dominion University.

Originally from Massachusetts, I received my Bachelor’s degree from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and my PhD from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

I work with clients from a variety of different backgrounds. My areas of interest include children and adolescents. I work mainly with individuals, but also provide couples and family counseling. Self-injury (cutting, burning, etc.) continues to be a passion for me and a topic that I currently research, write about, and give workshops on.

I believe that a trusting and supportive relationship between the client and counselor is the foundation for growth and change to occur. My counseling approach includes guiding clients on their life paths by encouraging reflection and introspection.

I work with individuals (as young as preschool age), couples, families, and groups. I received my BA in Sociology and Linguistics from The College of William and Mary and my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Norfolk State University.

I am a native of Virginia, but after my work at Norfolk State, I moved to Calais, Maine for four years to work with the Passamaquoddy Tribe on two of their reservations. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia and have experience working with individuals (including adolescents), as well as families.

A native Texan, I moved to Virginia in 2003 and now call the Commonwealth my home.  I studied Psychology at Texas A&M University (where I received my B.A.), and then studied Marriage & Family Counseling at the College of William and Mary (M.Ed.).

Typically, I work with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and people who are feeling “stuck” and are looking for change in their lives.  I see counseling as a collaborative process between clients and their counselor, and I enjoy walking alongside clients as they work to reach their goals.
