General Information

'Counseling can Open doorways into
a richer and more fulfilling
experience of life'

The General Course of Therapy

The actual number of counseling sessions following an initial assessment may involve 6, 12, or more sessions. We will periodically evaluate together the progress you are making toward your goals and decide whether, or how long, therapy should continue. You are free to stop at any time. It is my policy to avoid “dual” relationships with clients: i.e., social contacts outside therapy or business affiliations.

Record Keeping Access and Confidentiality

Ethically and legally, I am required to keep records of all our contacts; you are legally entitled access to those. I must obtain explicit permission from you to release this information to a third party, such as an insurance company. I am also ethically and legally bound to confidentiality, except for special circumstances, which I will thoroughly explain to you at the beginning of your first session.
Communication and Scheduling

Communication & Scheduling

Communication

- The best way to communicate is by telephone or email. If you phone, always say whether you wish to have your call returned, with the best number and times.

- We reserve the right to charge for between-sessions calls if they occur regularly
and are longer than 15 minutes.

Scheduling
- Our practice is to schedule sessions for about 50 minutes, and you are asked to be present for the full time. The most effective schedule is for sessions to occur at a regular time and day of the week. Arrangements for other types of scheduling can be made.

- Cancellations not made with at least 48 hours notice may be charged at 50% of the regular fee, except in a rare emergency. Three failures to attend a scheduled session without prior notification may result in termination of service.
